Reasonable Compensation Studies
Two fixed-fee tiers. No hourly meters and no open-ended scopes. Fees are never contingent on the outcome of a matter or on the conclusions reached.
Tier 1: Study and Report
$9,500 fixed. Covers one subject executive; additional roles quoted separately.
- Independent reasonable compensation opinion for the subject role and period at issue
- Review of financial statements, tax returns, job duties, qualifications, and time allocation
- Multi-factor analysis, including the independent investor test where relevant
- Market data drawn from recognized published compensation surveys
- Written report with the conclusion in plain language up front, followed by analysis, findings, and full methodology appendices
- Delivery within 10 business days of complete document receipt
Tier 2: Study, Report, and Testimony Readiness
$19,500 fixed. Everything in Tier 1, plus:
- Litigation-organized workpaper file prepared to withstand discovery
- Rebuttal review of one opposing expert report
- Deposition preparation session with counsel
- Priority delivery within 7 business days
- Deposition and trial testimony billed separately at the hourly testimony rate
Not included
Legal or tax advice, business valuation, audit or attest services, and opinions outside compensation. Datum works alongside counsel and the client’s tax advisors; it does not replace them.
Process
Intake call, document request list issued the same day, analysis and drafting, draft report delivered, final report issued after one revision round for factual corrections. Fifty percent of the fixed fee commences work; the balance is due at draft delivery.
